Grooming

We provide a maintenance grooming service to keep your pet in top condition.
The Benefits
In this harsh tropical climate, regular grooming is even more important. We offer a convenient service to help you keep on top of your pet's grooming needs.

The Service
We offer the following grooming services, but please note these are easy care and maintenance services only, we do not provide breed specific or show clips. We do:

  • Trim feet on long haired dogs
  • Trim face feet & bottom, and hydro bath.
  • Cool Clip - a short and close all-over body clip, trim face & feet & hydro bath - great for the tropical climate.
  • Nail clipping - complimentary with either hydro bath or coat clipping services. If nail clipping is required with a hydro bath service, it must be requested at the time you make a booking.

  • Some points to remember about grooming:

  • It is a good idea to get your dog used to grooming as early as possible. If you welcome a dog to your family when they are still puppies, it's vital that you get them used to washing and grooming as part of their training regime.
  • The DogWashMan will not clip a puppy, until it is at least 4 months old.
  • Regardless of how old a dog is when welcomed to the family, it is very important to introduce and keep up a regular grooming regime. This is important for your dog's long term good health, and besides will help to deal with smelly-dog problems and can contribute positively as part of a regime to deal with common allergies.
  • Regular daily brushing at home may be necessary for some breeds in order to keep their coats from knotting and matting. If this is not done, the next time you need us to clip your dog's coat, a very much closer and more comprehensive clip may be needed to address problems.
  • If we are presented with a dog with a severely matted or knotted coat we will not attempt to de-matt it or cut the knots out with scissors. In such situations, to do so will likely cause the dog considerable pain and distress, and in the case of scissoring knots may actually result in wounding the dog. We will instead recommend another appointment at which time the coat can be safely clipped.
  • Excessively long nails can harm your pet's health, either affecting their ability to walk or run, growing into the flesh, and even causing wounds elsewhere on the pet's body.
  • If your pet's nails are particularly long, the cuticle likely extends deep along the nail, making it possible to clip only the very ends of the nails, to avoid bleeding. Regular light clipping will help to correct this problem.
  • Even with the greatest of care, nicking the cuticle can sometimes occur when nails are trimmed, leading to minor bleeding - this is more likely with black nails where the cuticle cannot be easily seen. In the event the cuticle is nicked, we apply an astringent, which helps to halt bleeding, and we will advise you.
